Dr. Frances Patterson, Ph.D., LADAC II, MAC, DAC, SAP, QCS
Dr. Patterson is recognized statewide and nationally as an expert in the fields of substance abuse and mental health. She received her bachelors and masters degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Alcohol and Drug Education Rehabilitation Program and doctorate in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University. In addition to being a licensed alcohol and drug counselor in TN, she is a National Association of Addictions Professionals (NAADAC) certified Masters Addictions Counselor. She also holds a certification as a Doctoral Addictions Counselor through the National Association of Forensic Counselors.
Dr. Patterson is qualified by the State of TN as a Clinical Supervisor for Alcohol & Drug Counselor licensure. She has worked as a counselor and program administrator in treatment programs in Virginia and Tennessee for 37 years, provides program consultation, professional training, clinical supervision and client education and counseling. She has conducted professional training locally, statewide and nationally for more than 30 years on addictions, mental health, professional counseling issues, ethics, cultural humility and professional development. She has also served as a federal grant reviewer for SAMHSA.
She is past chair of NAADAC's clinical issues committee, a past member of the ethics committee, is a member of the NAADAC Trainers Academy, a NAADAC approved trainer and provides training as part of "Trainings by NAADAC". Additionally, she is a past NAADAC SE Regional Vice President. She is a past president of TAADAC, NAADAC state affiliate member organization, and Middle TN TAADAC. In 2004 Dr. Patterson recievied MTAADAC Professional of the year award. In 2005 she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award by MTAADAC and TAADAC and in 2006 she received the Mel Schulstad award, NAADAC's national Professional of the Year award. She has many years of experience in coalition building, community collaborations, grant writing collaboration and state conference planning. She was the conference chairperson for the MTAADAC statewide Journey Together conference for 6 years and the chairperson for the 2006 National Journey Together conference when NAADAC joined TN for their annual conference. She has served on the Journey Together Conference committee for the 25 years of the conference and continues to serve on the committee as conference co-chair.
Dr. Patterson currently works part time for The DePriest Center in Murfreesboro, TN where she developed and implemented the Life in Recovery addictions treatment program and serves as program manager. She spends much of her professional time providing clinical supervison to those seeking professional licensure as addiction counselors in TN and providing professional training.

TRACY CHAPMAN, CLASS INSTRUCTOR
Ms. Chapman, MS, is a counselor in Waverly, TN. She has worked for the Department of Children's Services for the past 11 years and has been teaching the First Offender class in Waverly for the past 10 years. She has worked as a court liaison in Humprhreys and Houston counties juvenile courts since 2007 and in Stewart county juvenile court since 2009. She recently was promoted to supervisior in her full time work. She shows caring and understanding in her work with adolescents and their families. Her experience and expertise is demonstrated as she shares information with class participants.
